Plan Revisited

  1. Finish storyboard for each advert
  2. Create an anamatic with the storyboard for each advert
  3. Buy the products i need for my advert
  4. Do some practice shots and with practise lighting so i know how i can create my final product
  5. Get feedback on my idea for my adverts
  6. Research and finalise music.
I have now completed more from the plan that I previously created. It now is developed. I have finished my storyboards, although I need to go back and develop some of these further as this is important.

Advert Script

On my TV advert I will just have one person talking. This means that I will be able to record this all at once and it will be more professional. At the moment, I haven't decided whether to use my own voice, or use my mums or my sisters. It will be easy to use someone elses voice because I just need to voice record them and then superimpose it over the top of my advert. The sequence will go like this:

"Brand new drink AQUA-BLAST is a thirst quenching water drink specially for children.
Coming in green (over the green water bottle shot), yellow (over yellow bottle shot), Blue (over blue bottle shot) and red (over red water bottle shot).
Aqua-Blast, everyone will love it, infact, it's one the kids will love too!"

Sponsorship Sequence

Sponsorship sequences are not very long. this therefore means that my sponsorship sequence needs to be about 5 seconds.

After discussing my storyboard with my teacher, I realised that it was too long and didnt show off the product as much as I wanted it too. This therefore means that i have to re-do my storyboard and rethink my ideas. I decided that I was gonna use a white back ground, and use lighting in a way that it wouldnt affect shadows. With the white background, I will have nothing else on it except for the water. The water is going to change colours, but it will do this quickly. Over the end, it will have 'Aqua-Blast sponsors...'

At the moment, I haven't decided what to let my product sponsor because although my product is for children, I need to get the mothers attention in order to buy it. This therefore suggests that I advertise between 3-5pm, where both mothers and children are at home. I can either advertise on a childrens channel or I can choose to advertise on an adult channel in which children watch too, such as ITV, or bbc.

Storyboard 1

Idea one:

  • Establishing shot of fridge - try out the hand idea, is the hand to dominant?
  • show the lunch box and flick shots quickly - shows different things in the lunch box
  • Finishes with establishing shot of aquablast label
Storyboard one is trying to aim at the parents who are packing their kids lunchbox. It is showing the slice of life and shows that the parent wants the water product in their child's lunch. I am trying to aim this at the more parental audience and therefore do not want children in it.

Getting my products ready

In order to start filming, I needed a lunchbox, which is a min product of my advert. Therefore, today i purchased a lunchbox which will be able to contain food products and my water product.

Alternative Idea

Another idea I could use which still works with my storyboard is that I take lots of pictures of the lunchbox with different food items in it, and place these all together quickly. At the moment, my idea is that we see people put their products in and then the water. But what I could actually do is put lots of different products around the water but keep the water the same. I like this idea and think I would be able to work with it.

Storyboards

Idea One

Idea Two

Sponsorship Idea

As I am doing an advert for my Media, I have had to create some storyboards. they are not long storyboards as i want to be using the same shot for quite a few things. The advert should be around 30 seconds long and I feel that by doing this, that is what they will be.

new plans

I have now been able to complete my first list of things to do.
  1. Analyse the Results from my Questionnaire on the product
  2. Start to find music which may go well with an advert
  3. Finalise Name and Slogan of the product
  4. Packaging of product
  5. What I will need to use for my advert
  6. Find USP - so that I am able to research where this should be filmed
  7. Research Places where I can set my advert - where I can film
  8. How should I create my advert
I now have a new list which i am also working through, which now looks like this:
  • Create a storyboard of events - STARTED
  • Create a script for my radio advert and for my normal advert (Planned whats happening, Only words are spoken over the top
  • After creating a storyboard, create an animatic
  • buy the products I need for my product
  • do some practice shots and with practice lighting of how i'm going to create my product
  • create a logo
  • get feedback on idea
  • Research and finalise music

This therefore shows that i have managed to complete quite a lot within my time period. My new list now looks like this:

  1. Finish storyboard fore each advert
  2. Create an anamatic with the storyboard for each advert
  3. Buy the products i need for my advert
  4. Do some practice shots and with practise lighting so i know how i can create my final product
  5. Get feedback on my idea for my adverts
  6. Research and finalise music.

Starting My Storyboarding!

I have started to draw up some of my storyboards, and this is what I will be doing for the remainder of this week. Here's what I've done so far:
I will be completing all my storyboards like this so that it is clear what is going on, and i will make sure that they are brief in order to get it done for all adverts on time.

Bottle Packaging

As I will be using a normal bottle, I have tried to create some packaging ideas for my product. I drew 6 things, whilst getting one of my friends to have her intake in the bottle. The last idea is the one that i want to try and create.

Final Logo

I have decided this is my final logo because it is my favourite out of the six which i created. This is because it is easy to create and is simple. I like the overlinking 'A' as it brings the words together and makes it seem more as a brand. I will try and incorporate this into my packaging.

Logos!

I started to draw up some ideas of logos and here is the sheet in which i drew and analysed my drawings.

I drew six designs which i liked. The first one I like because it is simple and easy to create. It has the dominant A and therefore shows the name of the product. The second one is easy and very simple. it has aqua blast and has coloured dashes around the name. The third I felt was too simple and was to green and didn't resemble what i was trying to create. I liked number four because it explain the water. The aqua flowing out of the bottle showed the water, but i feel that it shouldn't have been blue because that's normal water. Number 5 i like the otherlapping A and therefore feel that i need to interpret this in to my logo somehow. The last one is not very visable, and is actually a multi coloured aqua-blast. i dont want to use this one because i feel that it is not visable enough and therefore my decision is between number 1 and 5.

Plan re-looked upon

On Tuesday 13th November I reviewed the plan that I had previously created. The first list had 8 things on it, and I have now been able to cross more off the planning list.
  1. Analyse the Results from my Questionnaire on the product
  2. Start to find music which may go well with an advert
  3. Finalise Name and Slogan of the product
  4. Packaging of product
  5. What I will need to use for my advert
  6. Find USP - so that I am able to research where this should be filmed
  7. Research Places where I can set my advert - where I can film
  8. How should I create my advert
I have now started to research into unsigned artists in order to find music which I could work with in my advert. The only thing i have left to do is to create a packaging for my product, which I am finding difficult as I am not as creative as I want to be. I still have my second list which I created and this is here:
  • Create a storyboard of events
  • Create a script for my radio advert and for my normal advert
  • After creating a storyboard, create an animatic
  • buy the products I need for my product
  • do some practice shots and with practice lighting of how i'm going to create my product
  • create a logo
  • get feedback on idea
  • Research and finalise music
I have now created a practise script for my radio advert and will keep looking upon this.
Secondly, I still need to research more into music, as I am finding it difficult to find music which goes well with my advert. Therefore, i have added 'Research and finalise music' to my list.

Radio Possible Script

- Running water to start the advert,
- Hear the fridge open
Speaker one: MUUUUUM!
Speaker Two: Yes?
Speaker one: Please can I have Aqua-Blast again?!
Speaker two: *sighs* Do you want your children to drink more water? I can't get mine to stop drinking aqua-blast, the new colourful water for children. With four different colours, my children can choose their favourite colour for no extra price to normal water! With no additives or any of that unhealthy stuff, It's one that I'll drink and one that the kids will love too!

Speaker Three: buy yours now at your local supermarket. Aqua-Blast, one the kids will love too!

More Music For Advert

This is another piece of music is 'The Wrong Direction' by Passenger, also known as Mike. He is an unsigned artist who pays his own way for his albums, and therefore these are all self made.

It is Happy but is also quite slow. This isn't my top choice but is an option.

'When I was a kid, the things I did we’re hidden unto the grid,
Young and naive I never believed that love could be so well hid
With regret i’m willing to bet they say the older you get
It gets harder to forgive and harder to forget'

These are the opening lyrics, and I dont think that they are suitable for my advert as it is aimed at children and therefore I feel that I will search further into song that I could use.

Music For Advert

The first piece of music I found which could go with my advert is Alex Goot - Lightning. Alex is an unsigned artist from America, with a unique voice.

I think that this would be good because it is upbeat, however I don't think that it relates to water and is more related to Love.

'Just stare me down with those electric eyes
No matter how hard I try,
I can't escape that gaze tonight'

These are the starting lyrics, however if I got permission to use this song I would try to use the Chorus, which is more catchy and goes like this:

'And I've been catching myself thinking of it
It's 3 in the morning,
Every day I chase after her
But I can't catch lightning
Catching myself thinking of it
It's 3 in the morning,
Every day I chase after her
But I can't catch lightning
No I can't catch lightning'

This is an option to me and I will research more into music so that I can find music thats specific to me and my advert.

Planning List

Back on Tuesday 16th October I created a plan of things that I needed to do. The list had 8 things on it and I have now been able to cross off what I have completed.
  1. Analyse the Results from my Questionnaire on the product
  2. Start to find music which may go well with an advert
  3. Finalise Name and Slogan of the product
  4. Packaging of product
  5. What I will need to use for my advert
  6. Find USP - so that I am able to research where this should be filmed
  7. Research Places where I can set my advert - where I can film
  8. How should I create my advert
After finalizing what I am doing, I now need to start to find music which may go well with my advert that is 'upbeat' and 'happy'.  I know that I also need to create the packaging for my product because I will not be able to film without doing this. The last point (number 8) was vague in the matter that I need to be able to create my advert within my idea. After already making my idea, I need to do some other things which need to be added to the list.

After doing all of this I think that I will be able to start filming.

Product Name

Seeing as my slogan is 'One the kids will love too' I want to make sure that my product name is something that will be able to link to this.

After looking upon my list of names I have decided to go with:

 'Aqua-Blast'

I have decided on this because it seems 'fun' and something that kids will enjoy, and i'm trying to get children to want to drink my water product. After finalizing my name and slogan, I now need to create a label which I can place onto my water bottle.

Creating a Slogan

A while ago I created a blog post to show all of the slogan ideas that I had. These were those ideas:
  • ·         Not Just Water
  • ·         Its Cooler than water
  • ·         Life’s Better With Colours
  • ·         Make Your Life More Healthy
  • ·         Choose Colours
  • ·         See Life in Colour
  • ·         Fun, Healthy and Cool
  • ·         The Red One, Yellow One, Green One and Blue One
  • ·         Just Water
  • ·         Just Water, but better, cooler and coloured

Although I liked all of these, I didn’t connect with any of them. I felt that none of them show the meaning of my product and now that I have conducted more research, I found that I needed to promote something to the adult market as a product for children. I don’t think any of them have a good ring to them and I don’t know if I’ll be able to link them in with my product. I brainstormed a little more, and I really liked this one.

‘One the kids will love too.'

I think this links in with my idea because I would be able to link it in with my idea of packing a lunch box. I think that I can link it in at the end. I think this slogan is quite catchy and is memorable.

Do I need actors?

I will not rely on actors for most of my advert. I will just need the arm or the hand of someone in order to pack the lunch box. I am not planning to show anyone’s face, so in fact I could just use myself to create this piece. If need be, I can get my mum or my sister to help me and this would be helpful. If I need any variation, I could get my dad to do it for me and therefore I would be using him in my advert. The only time I will rely on someone else or me for the voice. I don’t really want to use myself, and therefore may try and get someone else to record for me because I think that would be more professional.

Location

Hopefully I will just film in my Kitchen, using my fridge and the counter top. This therefore means that I will not need to go around for locations as it is all in one place, and I can film whenever I would like to.

Props

At the moment, for my advert I know that I’m going to need:
·         Water Bottles – Around 5 with different colours and these will need to be replaced every time I film
·         Food colouring – different colours (red, green, blue, yellow)
·         A fridge (I want the establishing shot to be in the fridge)
·         Labels to put around the water bottles that say the logo and the name
·         A lunchbox
·         Normal water bottles
·         Fruit
As my idea develops, I will need to add to this list.

Development of ideas

At the moment, my idea is that a person is packing a child’s lunchbox. I could do this is many different ways, but at the moment I have a couple of ideas. As I have to create two adverts main tv adverts, I may try and create both of these.

Idea one
You can see the adult packing someone’s lunchbox. It will start with an establishing shot of the fridge, opening it and then seeing the coloured water next to normal water.  You will see someone open a lunchbox and start to pack it. I will have normal things, such as babybels, apples, sandwiches and crisps. I will then be going back to the fridge, where you will see someone debating whether to take normal water or coloured water, and then they will select the coloured water and place it into the lunch box. The last shot will see the lunchbox being closed. I will aim this to be around 30seconds. I don’t want the actor to say anything, but will have words over the top.

Idea two
Idea two is just the shot of the lunchbox. This will be shorter as I will not have to move around the shots at all, except for moving them around to make sure that I am filming from all different angles. I will then get the person to fill the lunchbox with lunch items, and then place the water in. This will be the most important shot and I will make sure to zoom into the label. I will have more vocals over the top of this to make sure that you clearly know that it’s the water that’s being sold.

Sponsorship
As the sponsorship should be shorter than the actual advert, I feel that I will just have a shot of the lunchbox and someone placing the coloured water next to the other products. I will then have the logo and the name of the product pop up. I will have a voice over although at the moment I’m not sure what I will get them to say.

Radio
For the radio advert, I want to try and aim for the same 30 seconds although most radio adverts are normally 40 seconds. I want to start the advert with running water, then go on to having voices over the top explaining the water. I want to make sure to use repetition in order to make sure that everything sticks into peoples minds.

I want to do a video where I’m telling people about my idea and seeing their reactions to it, as well as asking their opinion on what would be best.

Conventions and Technical Codes of Radio Adverts

Radio adverts
  • ·         The channel is mentioned
  • ·         Average length is approximately 40 seconds
  • ·         Clips from the programme
  • ·         Voiceover narrating what the show is about (outline only)
  • ·         Voiceover poses the questions that will be answered in show
  • ·         Voiceover in advert is same voice from documentary
  • ·         They mention the scheduling
  • ·         Occasionally a music bed

Audience research evaluation – How well did I do?

My audience research meant that I was able to find out information which I didn’t know before. I found that my product idea wouldn’t work for adults, but would work for children which is why I need to aim at the younger generation. I also found out how I should promote and market my product because many people didn’t want it because they felt that it would have too many additives. I therefore feel that I need to find a way to make my product completely healthy and exactly like water. I also think I should use colours and simple things in order to get children to remember it. If I were to do this questionnaire again, I would have more questions on what they would like to see rather than making them watch the two Youtube videos. I think that the Youtube videos meant that people didn’t want to do it, and I also don’t feel like those videos told me anything about what I should do. If I had asked questions about what people would want to see then maybe I would have more ideas for the advert and what would work on the TV.
